Yes! This is amazing news about Royal City!

I just finished rereading Royal City for the 4th time? 5th time? I can't keep track anymore, and it still gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. I can't wait for this second part to finally come out. The best news!

How many issues will Royal City be?

Jeff, I have absolutely LOVED your run on JSA. Thank you so much for the time and heart you have poured into this book. Love your choice of characters and really enjoyed having the times past arcs as well. You have done this legacy team proud! Really digging that TEDDY KRISTIANSEN panel you shared! Hoping I can find some original art from one of those issues!

I'm going to miss you writing JSA. I hope it continues. I dropped a few other titles just to focus on it. Best of luck with your new projects. I am also collecting Firestorm but waiting to read them until they are all released.

Extremely excited about more BLACK HAMMER and(!!!) more ROYAL CITY happening!

With Spiral City complete and more BH on the way, do you know when we can expect to see Black Hammer: The End collected in the library editions, and also if Dark Horse has any plans to reprint some of the volumes? There's a few missing from my collection that are maddeningly out of print...

Thanks for the heads up! As others have mentioned I’m loving Minor Arcana and am sad it’s ending. But also excited to see how it ends. Any Phantom Road news when available will be much appreciated by all. Happy 50th! Stay young

I'll take all the Teddy Kristiansen that I can get, especially on JSA.

Was expecting MINOR ARCANA to go the full 30 issues, Jeff, but if you're happy with 24, that's good enough for me.

Add my voice to the chorus, though: What's the story with PHANTOM ROAD?

Phantom Road in 2027!

While slightly bummed about Minor Arcana, I get it...and glad it will have your ending, versus being cut short by the powers that be.

Luckily for us, you have so many other (great) books out and from it sounds like, coming soon, as well. Looking forward to tracking you down at the con!

If Royal City is done, is the holdoff until next fall a decision from Image to let Minor Arcana finish first as to not have two books illustrated by you at the same time? Just curious.

Jeff Lemire's avatar

My decision, but yes, for that reason. Makes sense to have Minor A finish up before launching a new story.

I really appreciate how intentional these endings sound. It never feels like you're ending books because you're tired of them, it feels like you're ending them because you've found where the story naturally wants to stop. That's becoming surprisingly rare in long-running comics.

Look Royal City is gonna Royal City.... :)

Everything sounds great! Very excited to hear about next Black Hammer!

Thank you for these updates, Jeff. I really appreciate it! They help me plan future purchases. Even when your plans sometimes change, it is nice to feel like we're along for the ride, so I appreciate you sharing here.

No one thinks you are a slacker. You sound very busy to me! I'm especially looking forward to the next installment of BLACK HAMMER, CROWBOUND, the continuation of FIRESTORM (I'm still surprised by how much I'm enjoying it), and the Harper Alley projects. Keep up the great work, Jeff, and please take care of yourself along the way!

Minor Arcana is one of my favorite books and sorry to see it end. It has been a good read so thank you!

Thanks. I'm getting to end it on my terms and with the ending I always planned.

Wow! What a post to wake up to. That Minor Arcana annoucment is very interesting, excited to see how all this wraps up in the coming months. I also really gotta lock back in and catch up with JSA before it's done.

Very excited to hear that Royal City is really coming back. Always love the books you illustrate and that series in particular really rocked. Super excited to see what annoucments come for Black Hammer during SDCC! Gonna meed that facsimile stat!
