Hello!
I had a great SDCC and even got to meet a few of you loyal farmhands there. Minor Arcana had a big launch, I think we all but sold out of the exclusive ashcans. And the announcements of my upcoming JSA and Absolute Flash books seemed to go over well.
Speaking of Minor Arcana, FOC (Final Order Cutoff) for issue #1 is this Monday. That means you have until then to ask your local comic book shop to order you a copy. So, please do if you can. All those pre-orders help! Here are some of the amazing variant covers that will also be available for our first issue by Tula Lotay and Dustin Nguyen!
And a preview of #1…
PHANTOM ROAD
I’ve been getting a lot of people asking about the future of Phantom Road. I’m happy to report that Gabriel is wrapping up art on issue #12 right now. We want to bank the entire next arc before we start releasing them. The plan now is to try and publish a new arc each year. We wish we could keep a monthly schedule, but Gabriel’s pace just doesn’t allow it, and I hope you agree his art is worth the wait.
Here is a look at some of the inks for Issue 11. This next arc jumps back and reveals secrets of Weaver’s father, and the mysterious Hawaii, as the investigate some hauntingly familiar cases in the late 90’s. This arc will likely be released in early 2025.
MADAME DRAGONFLY
My long-awaited new Black Hammer series with co-creator Dean Ormston is still coming. Dean is working his way through the artwork and recently handed in this amazing cover…This 4-issue series will also be a 2025 release.
Speaking of Dean, Paul Ross recently made a documentary about Dean that is now available to Amazon Prime members in the UK. No word on a US release yet, but I will keep you posted.
NEW ROYAL CITY!
Even though I am drawing Minor Arcana each month, I have continued to chip away at the sequel to Royal City. I’m working on the third of six planned issues now. The series will be called THE STATIC AGE: A Royal City Story and will focus on Richie Pike as he struggles with middle-age and sobriety. And, it all starts to fall apart when a mercurial friend from his past returns to Royal City and threatens to pull Richie back into his self-destructive ways. I’m taking my time with this one, so it’s probably a 2026 release.
So, for those keeping score, it will be Minor Arcana, JSA, Black Hammer: Spiral City and Absolute Flash monthly with Phantom Road, Madame Dragonfly and The Static Age all coming soon after.
That’s it for this week. Back to the drawing board.

Awesome I can’t wait! Really glad to hear that Phantom Road is coming back eventually. I think it might be my favorite current series.
