Hello. I’m here in San Diego at Comicon and wanted to share some news. I’m writing two new series for DC Comics, ABSOLUTE FLASH with artist Nick Robles (teaser art above). The series will be part of DC’s new Absolute Universe where we get to reimagine the classic heroes from the ground up. Our series will follow a teenaged Wally West.
In addition to Absolute Flash I’m also writing my all-time favourite superheroes…THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA!
JSA will launch in November with Issue 1 and it will be drawn by the amazing Diego Orlotegui.
And I’ll also be drawing two interlocking variant covers for JSA #1-2 coloured by Dave Stewart!
When I get back from the con I’ll talk more about both books but for now some process pics of the creation of my variant covers…
I’ve always admired your art like it’s gorgeous and JSA would fit right next to any modern super hero book but it’s also instantly recognizable and inimitable. In that way it reminds me of Niko Henrichon’s work. I’m sure you’re extremely busy working on soooo many (6? More?!) books right now but I have to ask you something I CANNOT FIND THE ANSWER TO. I loved the sweet tooth adaptation I was apprehensive as I’m such an enormous fan of that era of Vertigo but that book in particular but I found it was just enough of a reinvention to suit the medium while maintaining what made it such a special touching story. In the last season is the bat kid hybrid’s cape paying homage to Lester from Essex county? Because the shots of him on the roof wearing the cape and mask look like they were pulled directly from one of your (self drawn) books
Wow, those JSA covers are fantastic!!
Also, great to say hello and have you sign my copy of Minor Aracana in SD, thanks again for taking the time!
