Wow, I just received yesterday an original page from Royal City I got at Cadence and now this great news!
I'm sure the wait will pay off. Hopefully this time you won't burn out on it and you'll be able to enjoy it. We need you safe and sound, take care, Jeff!
Is there an ultimate dream project that could seduce you back to work-for-hire for a limited period? Asking not because I don't think it's great (better?) to do only creator-owned but because I love "holy grail" answers.
Also wanted clarify that I will not be publishing the new Royal City on this Substack. Just sharing process material etc. The book itself will only be in print with Image
Hi Jeff, wondering if there is any way for your subscribers here to order Cosmic Detective? I visited the Kickstarter page for that and see that it's closed for new pledges. As someone who is relatively new to your work, I understand if that's not an option, but thought I would check. Thanks!
Best news! Can't wait for the return of Royal City, so happy to hear you're revisiting it. Also, very excited about the new Black Hammer stuff being published here on Substack. Will these new Black Hammer stories also be published in a hard copy some day?
Best news ever! Royal City is my favorite book so having more of it is perfect and being patient is easy when you are putting out so much other great material all the time :-) Thanks Jeff.
Omg. I love Royal City. It was the first book I bought outside of Walking Dead and it made me realize what comics could be. That they were not just super heroes or zombies. HS. That they could be slice of life stories with tons of heart! I even bought a page recently from Cadence. Damn, so excited dude! Bring it on Jeff!
Royal City is the greatest comic book I have ever read. No other book has impacted me emotionally the way RC did. Can’t wait for more!
p.s. if you guys ever consider doing another limited run of those Essex County Slipcases I will jump on that and cry while doing it.

Thanks! Excited too. I likely won't fully paint it myself this time around. Experimenting with different color approaches now.
Royal City may be my favorite work of yours, so this is exciting news. Or maybe my favorite is Essex County. Or Underwater Welder?
All good options ;)
New Royal City, yes please. Any plans for a Valiant project anytime soon, loved your run on Bloodshot and The Valiant mini series.
No plans for any more work-for-hire. Valiant or elsewhere. Just doing my own creator-owned work moving forward

Hey Mike. I will look into it for sure. Matt is the KS guru and he knows more about that stuff than me, but I will look into it.
Thanks so much!

Yes. Eventually. But they will be exclusive here for a window of time first
Awesome! Thanks Jeff. I look forward to reading them here and adding them to my ever-growing Black Hammer collection later!
