If this had been current to May 1986 (Dark Horse being founded in Feb 86), this would have been an amazing way of introducing the book to its readers. It has a feel of in media res, which gives the storytellers so many possibilities. Even today this is a very fun storytelling option, as Black Hammer is all about exploring the in media res plotting of a grander story. I look forward (or backward i guess?) to reading more from this series.
New to this. Do we get a few pages at a time over the course of a few months? What’s the best way to read on my device? Is there an app or do I just scroll through the pages as they’re posted?
Everything here will eventually be in print for sure. We will post weekly pages like this to scroll through and then at the end of each chapter we will post a PDF and a version you can read with the Panels App on your device.
Thanks. Installed panels but can’t figure it out. Searched by your name and Blackhammer but nothing at all came up. Will the book reach comiXology eventually? Maybe I’ll be patient and wait for that.
Thanks. Kinda leaning towards cancelling the substack thing and just waiting until the story’s finished to decide how best to enjoy it. Few pages at a time ain’t really for me
Me, up till an hour ago: I just can’t read comics online at all.
Me, an hour ago: There’s Black Hammer in there?!?
Joined, read, loved, and excited.
Can’t wait for the paper copies, but also can’t wait, so gladly reading here. Excited to start on Fishflies.
what a wonderful surprise!
I'm sorry if my question seems silly, but will the Black Hammer comic be released in a paper version? Or will it be a pdf exclusive?
I am crazy about the black hammer universe and would be happy to add another print edition to my book collection.
This will definitely be available in a printed paper version one day. But exclusive here for this year first.
You never disappoint. Love it. Thank you.

WHAT? THIS IS AMAZING!
What a great start to the day, or nearly afternoon
This is so great! Congrats, Jeff!
Just what I needed on a dark, windy, rainy and cold Monday.
Amazing! So exited for this. Thanks, Jeff.
WOW. Thanks a lot for this. WOW.

Ignore this. I probably should’ve read the message before the comic pages…

Panels is an app for reading comics you download from elsewhere. Once the chapter is posted you can save that file and open it with panels.

Great start Jeff. Maybe a bit early to say. Will this be getting a physical HC or TPB release once done?
Cheers man.
This is amazing!
